MOVEMENT OF A PLACE

Architecture is a craft–science that responds to a plethora of factors tied to human and spatial behaviours. It attempts to improve human activity and social interaction through the Architect’s creative intellect and meaningful interpretation of the context. In its essence, Architecture is shaping and defining ‘place’ for successful human experiences. Through a continued quest, there must be an appreciation of the long-term manifestation of Architecture, as a discipline. Whether formal or functional, technological or economical, contextual or abstract, the approach to Architecture is a combination of many components presented together under the catalyst role of the Architect.

T.ZED ARCHITECTS

T.ZED Architects aims to promote a new language within the region that reflects the birth of a new, contemporary, modern architectural movement. Our projects embody a crafty, timeless and personal approach to Architecture without limitation to scale or scope. The entailment of our investigations is a contextually relevant and detail-rich Architecture as a medium of communication that originates from identified key issues of our physical cultural and social environment. T.ZED Architects leitmotiv is about advancing the regional Architecture through its phases and contemporizing it in order to make it recognizable at a global level.

THE PRACTICE

The practice places craftsmanship and the idea of making at the heart of its modus operandi, in a time when paying attention to details is something recently viewed as ‘dated’ mainly due to the overly-simplified ability to import design ideas and ‘styles’ creating on-trend designs. T.ZED Architects is interested in the minute joinery and masonry details, and equally so in their role, played in the ripple effect which will be evident on the city-scale. Our design palette is that of cultural, contextual, social and economic habits that engage a city, as well moments and transitions of space that address human engagement through the creation of a series of subtle experiences in Architecture.

OUR COMMITMENT

Our commitment lays in the relevance of our work today and decades onwards, through a rigorous approach in materials selection and honesty in addressing climates we operate in, and in accepting that weathering is in fact a continuation of the narrative. While keeping an open dialogue with past precedents, T.ZED Architects looks forward in our continued investigation in materiality, research, design and Architecture that embodies successful building programs and public engagement through craftsmanship and designs that push boundaries further with each project.

PROFILE

Founder and Director of T.ZED Architects, Tarik is a graduate of the Bartlett School in London and has a wide range of International Professional practice whereby he worked for Urban A&O in New York and Bolles + Wilson in Germany. His work experience across Europe, North America and the Middle East has further honed his abilities to practice Architecture globally and to be invited as a critic internationally.

T.ZED Architects is the second Architecture and Design practice founded by Tarik Zaharna in Dubai. For him, Architecture is a craft-science that responds to a plethora of factors tied to human and spatial behaviours, which attempts to improve human activity and interaction through an Architects’ informed creative intellect and interpretation of the context. In its essence, Architecture is shaping and defining ‘place’ for successful human activity with this philosophy, attention to detail has been consistent throughout his academic and professional career. Based in Dubai and Luxembourg, Tarik has a passion for developing an Architectural and Design language globally, nurturing the humble beginnings of what could become a new and dynamic Architectural Movement. His experiences have allowed him to position himself as a young pioneer in the steadily growing Design and Architecture scene of the Middle East.

Through an on-going research as well as an attempt for a deep understanding of context, through T.ZED Architects, Tarik aims to promote a new language within the region that reflects the birth of a new contemporary, modern architectural movement. His projects embody a timeless, crafty and personal approach to architecture without limitation to scale. The bi-product of his investigations is a contextually relevant and detail-rich architecture as a medium of communication that stems from identifying key issues which present themselves through a design brief. Tarik was also a Mentor selected by the British Council for the Cultural Excellence Fellowship Program launched by Abu Dhabi Music and Art Foundation.
